After Caleb gets in his PJs he knows he's going to get a bottle. Tonight was the first time he laughed about it. I asked him, "Are you ready for your bottle?" and he immediately started laughing. Luckily my camera was on the changing table and I very sneakily turned it on and started filming. I had to keep it out of his line of vision because I was afraid he'd stop doing it. So that's why half his head is cut off in part of it.
He's SO CUTE!! I love my little man.
He's finally gotten to the stage where he's smiling all the time, and hopefully he'll keep this laughing thing up.
In other news...he's quickly out growing the johnny jump-up. It's weight limit is 22lbs. I don't know what I'll do without it! He LOVES LOVES LOVES that thing. He's in it a couple hours a day. It's how I get everything done! He's not quite sitting up independently yet - he will for a minute or two before he falls over - so I can't sit him up anywhere. I'm going to miss the "boingy boingy boingy" sound and him laughing in it. I guess that's the trouble with having chubby kids. They grow out of everything too quickly. But luckily he LOVES his new car seat at least.
We also have more news...
We have adopted an 8week old bassett/beagle puppy. We've decided to name him Harley. Caleb loves to rub his fur and luckily Harley doesn't mind a bit. That's why I love Bassett Hounds. They let you do anything to them and don't care at all.
I know my family is reading this and calling us crazy. But he's really a very good dog. He only had one accident in the house today. He's very mellow and friendly. We love him dearly.
Work for me will be changing in a couple days. Initially I was going to start training for one of the charge nurse positions, but one of the big wigs wants to trial a new position as a 'Discharge Nurse'. So for the time being, I won't be directly involved in patient care anymore. This is kind of a relief, and kind of sad. Some days I just don't feel like dealing with boobs and hineys any more, but some days I have really great patients that I love taking care of. But now, for the next month, I, and another AWESOME nurse Trudy, will be in charge of getting our patients ready for discharge from the hospital. So I'll be more of an educational nurse than a floor nurse. My new work hours are 6am-2pm three days a week. The 6am part is going to suck, but it will be great to be able to leave by 2pm. The hospital is trying to work out a system where they can get patients discharged sooner, therefore opening up beds (we've been at near capacity or over-full for quite a while now) sooner so those that need beds will have them. I hope it works and I hope it helps out my fellow nurses because I know how stressful it can be.
